On the Mac, you should open wifi or use a wired connection to connect to the network like the TV connected. You can check the Mac and TV IP addresses to ensure they are under the same subnet (for example, Roku TV 192.168.1.1, Mac 192.168.1.2).

Some common issues about the network connection

  • Using a dual-band router, use separate names for the 2.4GHz and 5Ghz networks. Then make sure that both the Mac and the TV are on the same network. So: if the Mac is on 2.4Ghz, your TV should also be on 2.4Ghz. If the Mac is on 5Ghz, put your TV also on 5Ghz.
